Is There Life After Bitcoin?
The Next Cryptocurrency Paradigm: Proof-of-Measurement,
Quantum Resilience and Next-Generation Blockchain

Summary

Bitcoin introduced the world to decentralized cryptocurrency, but its underlying model was designed for a very different technological era. Today, blockchain systems face new challenges: energy efficiency, scalability, hardware centralization, quantum computing, and the need for broader real-world participation.

This keynote presentation explores what a post-Bitcoin cryptocurrency paradigm might look like. It introduces the concept of Proof-of-Measurement (PoM) as an alternative direction for blockchain consensus, where participation is linked not to ever-growing computational power, but to authenticated physical measurement processes. The presentation will also discuss quantum resilience, mobile participation, high-throughput Layer-1 architectures, and the role of trusted hardware in future decentralized networks.

Rather than presenting another Bitcoin fork or incremental protocol modification, the talk considers whether a fundamentally different approach to mining and consensus can support the next generation of blockchain systems — scalable, energy-conscious, widely accessible, and designed from the outset for emerging technological and societal requirements.
